Naming a band is an act of concentrated creative expression. Since 2010, Square Pig in a Round Hole has been rewarding five favorite band names each week. Winners are (usually) listed alphabetically.
Selection is wholly unscientific and subject to whim, with a bias toward wordplay, humor, and local flavor. In most cases, I won’t know anything about the bands at the time of selection. Thanks to the Stranger’s Everout nightlife listings for abundant source material!
May showed up in Seattle in its “Little July” guise! If it’s nice where you are, I hope you get to enjoy it. I will be enjoying a little vacation trip next week and won’t be in a position to write a new post. I have scheduled a blast from the past, so you will still get your band-name fix.

Carrion Spring
This strikes me as an excellent name for a hardscrabble frontier town in a weird Western story. Don’t drink the water.
Just Mustard
I applaud the rhyme in this condiment order. I also appreciate a condiment that respects the rule of law.
Never Ending Fall
Winter never arrives, but neither does spring. Or maybe this is the sensation in a dream of falling but never hitting bottom.
Packaging
Shining a spotlight on a mundane aspect of modern life. Has anyone else noticed how all the packaging seems to be getting worse, like boxes have too much glue or bags don’t zip? All those machines, out of spec and improperly maintained.
Team Nonexistent
Cancelling practices and forfeiting games, doing their own thing and laughing at the rule-followers. I detect a note of loser pride.
