Naming a band is an act of concentrated creative expression. Square Pig in a Round Hole exists to reward five favorite band names each week. Winners are (usually) listed alphabetically. Selection is wholly unscientific and subject to whim, with a bias toward wordplay, humor, and local flavor. In most cases, I won’t know anything about the bands at the time of selection. Sometime last month, without fanfare, I completed six years of writing this weekly blog. (Posts from before June 2016 can be found here.) That’s a lot of band names! And the well shows no sign of drying up, so I plan to keep going. With some fanfare, here are this week’s picks, which by happy coincidence are all two-word names (with the exception of one definite article) and all but one of which follow the pattern of adjective noun:
Sure, your house is haunted, but the spook doesn’t mean you any harm. It just wants to tell you the same dull story over and over.
This one, though dumb, speaks to me. My own personal thumbs are inept at communication, so I generally text with my fingers.
This is going to sting A LOT.
Song title as name for tribute band is a time-honored tradition. This is also a natural for my ongoing theme of post-election anxiety.
