Naming a band is an act of concentrated creative expression. Since 2010, Square Pig in a Round Hole has been rewarding five favorite band names each week. Winners are (usually) listed alphabetically.
Selection is wholly unscientific and subject to whim, with a bias toward wordplay, humor, and local flavor. In most cases, I won’t know anything about the bands at the time of selection. Thanks to the Stranger’s Everout nightlife listings for abundant source material!
I am selling and signing books today with Author Event Network at the Holiday Makers Market, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm at Mercer Island Community Center, 8236 SE 24th St, Mercer Island, WA 98040. Rather than put off blogging until Sunday, I am scheduling this post in advance. Don’t worry, no matter what, I’m bringing high-quality band names for your enjoyment. (But if you’re on the Eastside, come check out AEN and the other great vendors for locally-made gifts, or treats for yourself!)
If you are able, please buy these bands’ music and merch. And … hit the follow button at the lower right to never miss a post.
Angel Barn
Even heavenly messengers need somewhere to relax and rest their wings and eyes between gigs.
Give Me the Money
You can ask, but if you went into music expecting a big payout, I have grim news for you.
Middle Aged Dad Jam Band
Exactly what it says on the label: actual adults living their teenage dream. As a recent middle-aged mom punk rocker, I salute them.
Prim
Not what you expect in the mosh pit. Which makes it punk.
Sunbather Die
Probably of skin cancer, alas.
Upcoming Events
I will be selling and signing books from the Author Event Network bo oth at one more holiday market in December:

10:00 am – 5:00 pm

Two last things before you go:
- I run The Rage Brigade, a Facebook group for conversation about fantasy, science fiction, superheroes, and music (and the intersections thereof). If that sounds like fun, come join us here.
- I share highlights from this blog in my quarterly author newsletter, The Storypunk Report, as well as news of what I’m writing and reading, upcoming events, and other goodies, including “Wizard in the Mosh Pit,” an exclusive short story just for subscribers. Click the link to check out the archive and subscribe here for future issues. (Or just follow the blog for your weekly dose of band names.)
