We are living through a fascist uprising. Do not wait for fascists to call themselves fascists. They are ascendent, and we have to learn how to fight back. Authors and poets have always spearheaded efforts to articulate danger and envision a better future. In the Antifa Lit Journal, these talented writers will tug at your heartstrings, draw you to take action, and help you find hope. Volume 1 begins with Rachel A. Rosen’s brilliant “What If We Kissed While Sinking a Billionaire’s Yacht?” and takes readers on a journey through rage, fear, and despair to a place of grace, yearning, and inspiration. By articulating our love for one another and desire for justice, we reject an ideology of hatred, built on blame, sustained on increasing human misery, and most importantly, doomed to fail. Anti-fascist literature is one way to fight back. By itself, it’s not enough, but neither is any other single effort. We all need to come together, to spurn divisiveness, to embrace a coalition of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Use your voice while you still can, and thank these marvelous authors and poets employing their pens on all our behalf.
Not a Pipe Publishing plans to release the Antifa Lit Journal twice a year, and they are already accepting submissions for Volume 2 HERE. Volume 1 takes its subtitle from the short story by Rachel A. Rosen, “What If We Kissed While Sinking a Billionaire’s Yacht?” The first volume includes poetry and short fiction, some of it frightening, some hopeful, some darkly funny, some despairing. “Challenging and engrossing, this issue offers a full spectrum of emotion for the anti-authoritarian spirit,” writes Kelly Rose Pflug-Back, author of the poetry collection The Hammer of Witches. “In times of tyranny, the voices of comedy and subversion ring the truest and most brave. This is a book for these times,” writes Jason Brick, author of Wrestling Demons and Safest Family on the Block.
